Turn Off The Faucet First

I’ll tell you how a significant number of people succeed in working so hard and reaping very little, by giving you this simple illustration.

Imagine a small room, and a tap of running water located somewhere in the room, perhaps in a sink. You were instructed to mop the room dry. With the tap still running, will that be possible?

Let’s say you work real hard and for a long time. Will the room eventually become dry? Of course we all know that even the biggest of fools will simply gently turn off the faucet FIRST before attempting to mop the wet room.

Bringing this illustration to our day to day activities, do we first turn off the faucet when a situation similar to this comes up; or are we bigger than the biggest of fools and try mopping the room with the tap still running? (Sorry if that hit you hard, I was just trying to make a vital point).

The average person- of which the number is becoming surprisingly larger daily- is simply too busy doing some cleaning and mopping that he has no time to turn off the faucet.

It’s really pitiable when you find people in this kind of mess; people who are tirelessly doing something so hard when they should have prevented a lot of work for themselves first by doing some basic things first.

Here’s a typical ‘live’ example. When you’re given a job to do, what is the first thing you must & should do? Let me give you some time to think about the answer to that…

Well, if you said: ‘Find out the best way to do it FIRST’, then you’re wise. If not, then you’re like the guy who leaves the tap still running while attempting to mop the room dry.

It’s really surprising how people attempt to do things based on assumptions and popular opinions without taking out time to find out from experts in the field, the correct way of doing those things.

This principle is applicable in every field of life. The very first thing to do when you have a task (or anything at all) to perform, like turning off the faucet, is to find out FROM EXPERTS in the field, the correct way of performing such a task, before even starting it in the first place.

Obeying this simple principle will save you tons of time, effort and resources which would otherwise have been wasted (like the mopping guy, doing unnecessary mopping). This habit also will make you come out tops in whatever you attempt, because you chose to listen to champions in the field.
With the point clearly made, I believe you will from TODAY start implementing this principle in your day to day affairs.

to your huge success...
