Punishment Never Leads To Obedient Or Well-Trained Kids!

When I was younger, I underwent several trainings on teaching and handling children. I was a children's Sunday school teacher for at least 5 years. From training, personal experience and research, I learned some pretty interesting things. I have a word for parents and prospective parents. If you want to get your child to do what you say. If you want to get your child to be exemplary, obedient and a kid that you'll be proud of, then you must understand that punishment or threats of punishment NEVER WORKS, or rather, it only works when you're there or when you can discover what they did. Children are very intelligent. If you want to get a child to obey your instructions, the only lasting and effective way to do this is to talk to them and explain to them WHY they shouldn't do something. Give them a REASON. Also tell them how doing differently from what you instructed makes you disappointed in them and how you believe and trust them to always do the right...

I Had A Road Accident Today

Okay, its way past 10 p.m. right now, and today is Monday, 26th June, 2017, an Islamic public holiday here in Nigeria, and here I am, sitting down on my bed thinking and writing about how lucky I was today; about how I narrowly escaped certain death just a few hours earlier. I’ve already started taking a whole lot of actions based on his recommendations in the book. I wanted some things to change for the better in my life, so, I was enthusiastic about doing the things he recommended. Well, for starters, I resolved to start my day by listening...

Life Isn't A Competition

We've all been raised to see all aspects of life as a competition, right from the home to the school. We've competed for our parents’ attention; we've competed for the first position in school, and in several other areas. But the truth is, life isn't a competition. There'll always be someone better than you at something. There'll always be someone smarter, richer, more handsome, more beautiful, taller, fairer, someone that has a more pointed nose, sexier legs, ripped body... and the list goes on. There’ll always be Facebook friends of yours who, as you keep scrolling up in Candy Crush, you'll keep seeing way up there. You keep hearing. Your mates are all married, your mates now have kids, your mates have all graduated, your mates have gotten good jobs, built houses and now drive good cars, your mates have done this, your mates have done that... You always hear, 'Life is a race, the first person to get to the finish line wins it al...
