I was walking
briskly along the street one afternoon rushing to the bank to deposit some
money into a friend’s account. I noticed something; not that it wasn't happening
before or that I wasn't noticing it before per se, but it just struck me.
What was it? It was
MY HEART!
I mean my biological heart. It was pounding hard and fast (because I was almost literally running to the bank: he was waiting for the alert & I delayed). When I noticed this, I stopped and thought briefly, and then I smiled and continued walking towards the bank.

What did I think
about? Why did I smile? I’ll tell you. I was to turn 23 by July that year and
my heart has been beating day after day, without end, come rain or sunshine;
whether I’m weak or strong, whether I’m starving or I've fed; whether I’m feeling happy or sad; whether exercising or resting, whatever was the case, my
heart has ever stopped beating for 23 whole years. It has always been faithful,
beating faster when lots of physical activity is required and slower when at
rest.
Seriously, the only
equal to the faithfulness of my heart (and of course, your heart), is the
rising of the sun every morning and of course, the faithfulness of God.
So, can you learn
from your heart? Can you be as faithful as it is? Can you persevere, night and
day; come rain, come sunshine for as long as is required to get the results you
seek?
Can you be
reliable? Can you become someone of integrity? Can you become someone to be
trusted to deliver in any situation? All these are what my heart taught me that
afternoon.
Can a heart fail?
Ridiculous question, isn’t it? Of course it can. Your heart can fail if it’s
not given adequate care.
So when next you
feel your heart beating against your rib cage, realize that you have inside
your chest, one of the most faithful friends ever and endeavor to emulate and
take good care of ‘him’.
Simple and short isn't it? I leave that to you.
See you at the top.
